Over And Out

Here's my thought this morning:

My friend's wife is an anti-Catholic bigot. To maintain the friendship I must ignore her prejudice. And the underlying current is that I'm required to suck it up for the sake of his companionship.

Why? If she is racist - should I ignore it? If she is homophobic - should I ignore it? If she is sexist - should I ignore it? If she is xenophobic - should I ignore it? If she is anti-semitic - should I ignore it? Why should I deny my God and my Faith to maintain a friendship with a man who tolerates bigotry?

Does his tolerance of her bigotry indicate his moral character? Could an honorable man love a racist? Could an honorable man love a homophobe? Could an honorable man love a sexist? Could an honorable man love a xenophobe? Could an honorable man love an anti-semite?

Could an honorable man befriend such a man?

Hey look. I’m all for loving my enemies. But, this isn’t about my enemies. I do not believe that God The Father loves people more than He loves His Divine Son. I do not believe God The Father doesn't want us to defend His Son's honor.

I'm required to bend my knee for my God - not grab my ankles so my friend can get laid.
